Little Bookmark Box

Little Bookmark Box

I decided a few days ago that I needed to have a standalone bookmark program since I've never gotten into using the various browser bookmarking options in a reliably matter. I have used pinboard but it does require a further step to connect to that site and so I've been evaluating Little Bookmark Box.

I decided that I can make best use of this application when I assign a keyboard shortcut to it to bring it to the foreground and then simply drag a url from my browser of choice into what I've setup as a miscellaneous collection box of all my stored bookmarks. I then tag the various bookmarks and setup various Mark boxes to dynamically contain the different bookmarked sites according to specific rules.

Here's a view of my Little Bookmark Box window with a typical setup for me.

Just testing

So lets see about adding some diet of photo then. I guess it's going to be an iPhone shot or at least something on my iPhone.

Blogger Versus Google+

Although I'm mainly using this blog for making comments on OS X and IOS based software I did see this article and it makes me feel a little better about using the blogger platform for these posts. I'm reasonably certain that Google not going to suddenly decide to stop supporting this service as it did with Reader last month.

There's a New Ulysses

Ulysses III

I saw a message a few days ago about the release of Ulysses III which has been a long time coming. I'd previously purchased (via the Apple store) Ulysses 2 but hadn't really used it all that much because I'd become more interested in markdown as an easy and convenient method of writing web content (see other entries). And so I did quickly decide to take advantage of the half price initial week purchase offer for this latest 're-imagining' of the software however since it very intimately makes use of a version of markdown and this definitely piqued my curiosity.

I'm able to write my blog entries - such as this one - directly in Ulysses III and then via a conversion to html post directly to the blog and as far as I can see it works quite smoothly. And of course in the process I have all of the conveniences of a writing setup offering a full screen no distractions environment and a clean iCloud sync experience (so far) giving me access to my files whether I'm writing on my iMac or my Macbook Pro. If I move my 'group' of sheets from the iCloud service to the Daedalus service within Ulysses then I also have (as far as I can determine) a fairly seamless synching of text onto my iPhone through the vendors Daedalus iPhone app.

This is just an initial look at Ulysses III and I'll be returning to examine it later after some more extensive testing of the product. I'm also expecting that there's going to be a fairly quick upgrade as new features (which didn't get into version 1.0 of the product) are added.
