There's a New Ulysses

Ulysses III

I saw a message a few days ago about the release of Ulysses III which has been a long time coming. I'd previously purchased (via the Apple store) Ulysses 2 but hadn't really used it all that much because I'd become more interested in markdown as an easy and convenient method of writing web content (see other entries). And so I did quickly decide to take advantage of the half price initial week purchase offer for this latest 're-imagining' of the software however since it very intimately makes use of a version of markdown and this definitely piqued my curiosity.

I'm able to write my blog entries - such as this one - directly in Ulysses III and then via a conversion to html post directly to the blog and as far as I can see it works quite smoothly. And of course in the process I have all of the conveniences of a writing setup offering a full screen no distractions environment and a clean iCloud sync experience (so far) giving me access to my files whether I'm writing on my iMac or my Macbook Pro. If I move my 'group' of sheets from the iCloud service to the Daedalus service within Ulysses then I also have (as far as I can determine) a fairly seamless synching of text onto my iPhone through the vendors Daedalus iPhone app.

This is just an initial look at Ulysses III and I'll be returning to examine it later after some more extensive testing of the product. I'm also expecting that there's going to be a fairly quick upgrade as new features (which didn't get into version 1.0 of the product) are added.
